i have a mixed reaction about the ending of the book Bridge to Terabithia. i like that Jess crowned a new queen of terabithia. but i don't really like and i don't get why Jess made May Belle the new queen. it doesn't really make sense to me. as a reader i would have liked if Jess crowned someone like Janice Avery, it would have made more sense to how the book played out.
i think that Jess crowning a new queen of terabithia brings a resolution because, it shows that he overcame Leslie's death and, that terabithia and his life can and will go on. he also shows that he has the strength and courage to let someone take Leslie's place.
as a reader i feel that Jess has changed a lot (in a good way!) from the beginning to the end of the book. he went from being ashamed of himself and always worrying what people think. to a strong person, who makes the best of what he has, and doesn't care what people think about him. and we have to thank Leslie for most of this. (:
i disagree that Jess should have queened Janice Avery. I feel like the fact that he queened Maybelle makes sense because Maybelle was the one that always wanted to do what Leslie and Jess would do. And she would always ask about Terabithia...and i agree that Maybelle being queen brings upon resolution too.
